Contemplative Prayer Discussion Series
There are many forms and types of prayer - a request for help from a college student on route to an exam; a Mom who silently asks that her daughter stay strong and healthy as she sleeps; a person of faith offering words of thanks at the end of the day. USF's new Living the Mission includes a contemplation for non-believers.
Please consider participating in this special series of conversations and reflections to explore prayer in our daily lives, brought to you by University Ministry and Human Resources. We welcome all faith and no faith traditions to participate. To begin our conversations, we will use the book Armchair Mystic: Easing into Contemplative Prayer by Mark E. Thibodeaux, S.J., an acknowledged expert on prayer and discernment. Father Thibodeaux draws from the experiences in his prayer life to illustrate how we may improve and deepen our own. (Courtesy of HR, this book will be given free to each group member.) The sessions will incorporate contemplative meditation practices that are Ignatian as well as those from other faith traditions. Fr. Donal Godfrey, S.J., from University Ministry, will facilitate. If you are interested in joining this group, please register soon, as space is limited.
